 "Jesus Is Watching You!!"

There was an elderly woman who lived alone in a simple apartment and was primarily confined to a wheelchair during her waking hours. Hearing a rumor that the woman was very wealthy, late one night a man broke into her place, intending to rob her of her wealth.

As the man entered the room where the woman was sitting quietly in her chair, the man demanded that she tell him where she kept her money. She calmly said, "Jesus is watching you."; to which he replied, "I don't believe in Jesus! Just tell me where you keep the money!" She then repeated , "Jesus is watching you!"

Furious at the old woman, the man said emphatically, "Lady, I told you I don't believe in Jesus and I want the money!!" As the words came out of his mouth, a large doberman with "drool" dripping off long, white, glistening fangs appeared in the doorway, to which the old woman said, "Jesus is watching you...sick'em Jesus!!"

The year was 1972...a very pivotal year for many...including Roger!

The war in Vietnam had "officially" ended; Nixon's term as president had "officially" ended...and Roger's college life as he knew it "officially" ended as well. (But jail time was awaiting his arrival....again!)

While the tumultuous years of the 60's had taken a toll on many, Roger was one of the casualties of that era. Appearing to have his life in control from the outside, the dark and hidden side of Roger's life was slowly creeping into every area of his being...eroding him from the inside out; what had started out as simple fun in his middle school, high school and college years; a party here, a gig to play there; smoking this, smoking that, doing "who knows what"...to finding his kicks from over-indulgence and robbery, his life was out of his control...and that was a side to his life that he kept secret...that no one knew about!? (Or so he thought!?)

Friends, family members total strangers had been telling Roger that "Jesus is watching you!"; they had praying for him  and their prayers had been "Sick 'em Jesus!"...and Jesus did!! The "Hound of Heaven" got a hold of Roger!

What would take pages to write regarding the change that took place, may it simply be said that on March 19, 1972, Roger Cooper changed; Roger "met Jesus"!

"The Jesus Movement" was at it's peak at that time and folks thought that it was just a fad or a craze that he was following; or simply that Roger "needed" to change? However something was not only different on the outside...but the inside had changed as well!?

Roger Cooper became a "Jesus Freak"! That was the label that he was given back then and one he continues to proudly carry to this day!

As his faith began to come alive, his desire to use his gifts and talents to bring honor to the One who changed his life became stronger. At a church service in Norton, Kansas he sang a simple song entitled "Jesus Loves Me" and with tears streaming down his face as he sang that precious song, he heard the still, voice of the Lord ask, "I've given you your talents, will you use them for Me?"

Well...that was it! For nearly four decades now Roger continues to share his music, his heart and his faith with anyone who wants to hear; from flat bed trailers in an open field to large arenas; from small churches to large concert halls; from small town fairs to major music festivals; from the Applefest in Lucas, Kansas to Creationfest in Mt. Union, Pennsylvania; from CBS to FCA, from Bennngton, Kansas to Brussels, Belgium, from Paris, Texas to Paris, France...it's has been...and always be known that "Roger Cooper Loves Jesus!"
