The "Everlastin' Jesus Music" Concert Tour!
Before there was Contemporary Christian Music, there was "Jesus Music" and before that, there was "The 60's Music"; and Roger Cooper has been playing it all!
Roger started playing music in the sixties; performing cover tunes of groups and artists like The Byrds, The Youngbloods, Kansas, Norman Greenbaum, Curtis Mayfield and others; songs like Turn, Turn, Turn, Spirit In the Sky, People Get Ready, Dust In The Wind and Get Together...a great time of musical inspiration!
During the late 60's and early 70's, "Jesus Music" burst on the scene. The "Jesus Movement" was alive! "JESUS IS ALIVE!!" was the word proclaimed by hippies and young people from various walks of life! Singing songs of faith to a rock and roll beat, their love for Jesus was undeniable! The Jesus Movement was in full swing and the music had an immediate audience...young people who wanted the music...but with a message of hope!
Roger's life had changed in the early seventies and he became an integral part of that music scene. Roger became one of those "Jesus Musicians"!
As he began touring and performing on his own, he soon became a favorite at many Christian Music festivals, conventions and conferences! Creation, Icthus, Fishnet, The Jesus Festivals, Kingdom Bound, Full Gospel Businessmen, Focus On The Family and many other events, Roger soon found himself sharing the stage, performing and touring with groups and artists such as Larry Norman, Barry McQuire, 2nd Chapter of Acts, Andrae' Crouch, Love Song, Honeytree, Keith Green, Petra, Sweet Comfort Band, Servant, Rick Cua, Mike Warnke and a host of others.
Songs like Turn, Turn, Turn, The Outlaw, Little Country Church, Why Should the Devil Have All The Good Music, Jesus is the Answer, Ain't Got The Blues, Love Broke Through, Sweet Song of Salvation, Enter In and many, many more, soon became the anthem of the day in Roger's concerts!
And then arrives on the scene artists and groups like Chris Tomlin, Chris Rice, Louie Giglio, Darlene Zschech, Matt Redman, Jars of Clay, Mercy Me and a myriad of contemporary Christian artists who had a passion for Christ. Each having a God-birthed desire to write, perform and introduce songs of worship; each having been influenced by the music of the Jesus Movement; each writing songs which have helped shape this generation...and Roger has been there as well!
From leading worship and performing Contemporary Christian Music like; How Great Is Our God, Open the Eyes of My Heart, Above All, Shout To The Lord, I Can Only Imagine and Blessed Be The Name Of The Lord...to the classic hymns such as Great is Thy Faithfulness, Blessed Assurance, Old Rugged Cross, It Is Well With My Soul and much, much more...Roger's passion for music, worship and sharing his faith continued to grow through the decades...and continues still!
After nearly 40 years of performing, leading worship, touring and singing about Jesus, Roger is truly a "Veteran" Christian Musician! So by popular demand, he is on the road with his: "Everlasting Jesus Music" concert tour.
With his talent as a musician, performer, entertainer and communicator; and "armed" with just a guitar and an infectious personality, Roger weaves the music from each era; the Sixties, The Jesus Movement, Traditional hymns, and the worship of today's Contemporary Christian Music making the "Everlasting Jesus Music" Concert a wonderful time of not only remembering...but of worship!
And at the end of the evening you will find him on stage with his finger pointing Heavenward in a "One Way Jesus" gesture...still singing for Jesus...and still pointing people to Jesus!
